Alicante hospitals double hospital admissions in two weeks with 538 patients, 68 in ICU at the moment - The Valencian Community registers 9 more deaths
The sixth wave of the coronavirus continues to hit the province hard. This Thursday, the number of new infections has exceeded all records by communicating 7,474 positives in a single day , according to data provided by the Ministry of Health. This figure comes after two days in a row in which more than 6,000 new cases were reported in just one day. Thus, those more than 7,000 positives is the highest number recorded during the entire pandemic. However, Health has reported two new deaths in Alicante , which brings the total number of deaths to 3,176 since March 2020.
The Department of Universal Health and Public Health has notified a total of 19,278 new cases of coronavirus confirmed by PCR test or through antigen test in the Valencian Community this Thursday. With this update, the total number of positives stands at 794,586 people. The new cases by province are 3,460 in Castellón (93,141 in total), 7,474 in Alicante (288,517) and 8,344 in Valencia (412,926). The total number of unassigned cases remains at 2.
As for the deceased, the autonomous department has reported 9 more deaths from coronavirus since the last update in the Community. They are 5 women, between 53 and 91 years old, and 4 men, between 74 and 84 years old. The total number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic amounts to 8,270: 936 in the province of Castellón, 3,176 in that of Alicante and 4,158 in that of Valencia.
Hospitals in the province also continue to suffer the consequences of this sixth wave. In two weeks, that is, since December 29, income has practically doubled in Alicante health centers. Currently, there are 538 people admitted, 31 more than just a day before; of them, 68 are in ICU, one more than the previous day. In the Community, the hospitals currently have 1,495 people admitted, 196 of them in the ICU: 216 in the province of Castellón, 22 in the ICU; and 741 in the province of Valencia, 106 in the ICU; in addition to those of Alicante.
On the other hand, 14,917 discharges to patients with coronavirus have been registered. In this way, the number of people who have overcome the disease since the pandemic began in the Valencian Community amounts to 657,831 people. By province, registrations are distributed as follows: 73,454 in Castellón, 235,078 in Alicante and 349,243 in Valencia. The total of unassigned registrations remains at 56.
According to the registered data, there are currently 139,926 active cases, which represents 17.36% of the total positives.
