Torremendo is a small Spanish village but with sufficient amenities that you do not have to be reliant on trips to nearby towns, since there is a small supermarket, butchers, bakers, 5 or 6 bar/restaurants, pharmacy, medical centre, bank, lottery shop (within one of the bars) and sports centre.  The outdoor swimming pool is open June, July August and September and there are adjoining tennis courts.  The pool has a bar ("The Cantina") with live music and great food, with homemade paellas and pizzas a speciality. 

The location is typically Spanish, and it´s an ideal place to sink into the local culture, especially at fiesta time, but there´s also a Monday afternoon club (after the weekly market) for the ex-pats to get together for a coffee and a chat.

You will find the prices for food and drink very reasonable in Torremendo, where you can wine and dine at a fraction of the price of some coastal resorts!

Torremendo is famous for the beautiful lake of La Pedrera which is just a short walk from the village itself and offers stunning scenery.  The "lake" is actually the most important reservoir in the Alicante region, and is famous for its aquamarine waters set amongst the surrounding hills.  There are two outdoor leisure centres close to the lake offering a wide range of activities such as horse-riding, quad-biking, kayaking, archery etc

Torremendo also has a church and primary school.  The nearby towns of San Miguel de Salinas, Los Montesinos and Orihuela are only a short drive away.   The beaches of Orihuela Costa and Torrevieja are only a 20 minute drive away approximately, and Guardamar del Segura is just 25 minutes drive.  Alicante airport is 45 minutes.
